Invading the sacred--Aditi Banerjee

A great article probing the very roots of why Hinduism is still not given an equal status as other religions and how the academic world is responsible for it.

...These solutions are not perfect and deserve scrutiny and challenge. However, if we are serious about promoting multiculturalism and pluralism, if we are sincere about tackling the serious challenges we face as a society by using the most effective solutions, then such approaches deserve a fair hearing and must at least be investigated and explored...

Invading the Sacred is a book that every Indian and Hindu should read. It shows how by burying our heads in the sand and pretending that there is no problem, can cause people to derail our entire image in the eyes of the world. When Indians/Hindus are stereotyped as a people of a decadent culture that oppresses then it paves the way for outside countries to invade India on the grounds of restoring human rights to its peoples. Yes, there are many social and political problems in India - like other parts of the world. But by linking these to Hinduism academics in America are softening up India for US invervention.
How prepared are Indians for this upcoming invasion?
